Jordan Cemetery Spring Cleanup begins April 3

On Monday, April 3, 2017, West Des Moines City staff will begin clearing flowers and decorations from graves in Jordan Cemetery, 2950 Fuller Road, in preparation for the spring/summer season. Citizens are asked to remove items that should not be thrown away by Sunday, April 2.

Decorations can be placed on graves again starting on Monday, April 10. For more information, call (515) 222-3447.

Historic Jordan Cemetery was founded by one of Polk County's earliest settlers, James C. Jordan, who arrived in Polk County in 1846. Monuments in the cemetery contain the names of some of West Des Moines' earliest and most prominent residents. Burial plots are available for purchase in the western section of the cemetery. The cemetery is now managed by the West Des Moines Parks and Recreation Department.
