Nominate Yourself or Someone Else to Serve on a Public Art Selection Work Group
Did you know that public art in West Des Moines is selected not only by our Public Art Advisory Commission, but members of our community as well? Each public art piece added to our collection is the result of input from a Public Art Work Group, a committee of 5-7 people who live, work and play in West Des Moines. The Work Group oversees the call for artists, selection process, and sometimes even artist interviews.
Time commitment for serving on a Work Group can range from a single meeting to several months. Meetings are typically under two hours and occur monthly on average. All meetings are scheduled based on Work Group member availability.
The Public Art Advisory Commission is constantly seeking a diverse group of individuals with a strong connection to West Des Moines to take part in our public art selection process. Nominate yourself or someone else here.
"Progression," by artist Douwe Blumberg is the newest addition to the West Des Moines Public Art Collection. A work group of 5 members spent several months overseeing the call for artists, interviews, and final design.
