Job Summary
|
Under the general direction of the EMS Division Chief provides a high standard of patient care in both the emergent and non-emergent setting. Provides economical medical care, health training, and safety education to City employees, citizens, and its visitors.

Requirements |
Requires high school diploma; valid Iowa driver’s license; good driving record; ability to lift and carry heavy objects in excess of 150 lbs; and the ability to operate required medical equipment.
Paramedic students are encouraged to apply. Must be currently enrolled as a Paramedic student, certified as an Iowa Paramedic or have a valid membership with the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians at the Paramedic level in order to apply. Iowa Paramedic Certification will be required prior to field orientation.
Critical Care Paramedic endorsement must be completed when first available or within 12 months of employment (whichever comes first).

Civil Service Exam |
A Civil Service Examination will be administered. Applicants meeting the minimum requirements will be invited to the next step in the process. The physical ability test, oral board interview and a medical scenario test are tentatively scheduled the week of December 16, 2024.
