The City of West Des Moines operates an ambulance service for the purpose of transporting ill and injured persons to the hospital. Any user receiving the services or transportation by City ambulance shall pay a fee as set forth by the City Council in resolution form. (City Code of West Des Moines, Title 4, Chapter 2, Paragraph 4)
Ambulance Billing
Effective May 1st, 2022, the City of West Des Moines has outsourced ambulance billing to a third-party emergency medical transportation billing services provider. The ambulance billing services provider is Quick Med Claims (QMC).

QMC Patient Services Representatives are available Monday though Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM Central Time.
Online Patient Access Portal
Quick Med Claims offers an online Patient Access Portal to:
- Pay your ambulance bill online
- With Visa, MasterCard, or Discover credit or debit cards
- Including Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA) cards
- With Bitcoin (â‚¿) digital currency
- With Visa, MasterCard, or Discover credit or debit cards
- Update your insurance information
- Submit your electronic signature
- Update your contact information

To ensure a quick and easy process, please have your run number and date of service available. This information can be found on your most current invoice. The WDM EMS "Company Code" is WDMEM.

Payment of Ambulance Fees
All ambulance fees and charges are due upon presentation of a statement by the City, and shall be promptly paid by the user, his legal guardian, or in case of death of user, by his user's estate. After a reasonable time following presentation of the statement (invoice) by the City, the City may cause a suit to be brought for the collection of any fees or charges for ambulance services. The City Council, by resolution and at its discretion and under special circumstances, may waive fees as set forth in this Chapter. (City Code of West Des Moines, Title 4, Chapter 2, Paragraph 5)
