There will be not be a fireworks display at Raccoon River Park.
- Spectators are allowed at the City/School Campus
- City/School Campus parking lots open at 7pm
- NO PARKING allowed at Furry Friends Refuge (3503 Mills Civic Pkwy.)
- Alcohol is NOT PERMITTED on the City/School Campus
- Grills are NOT PERMITTED on the City/School Campus
REMINDER
FIREWORKS ARE ILLEGAL TO DISCHARGE WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS OF WEST DES MOINES, EVEN ON JULY 4th
Consumer fireworks are not allowed to be discharged within the city limits of West Des Moines at any time. This includes, but is not limited to, shells & mortars, roman candles, bottle rockets, fountains, and firecrackers. Sparklers, snakes, and party snappers are allowed.
The West Des Moines City Council voted to ban the use of consumer fireworks within city limits on October 16, 2017.
Fireworks are legal to sell and purchase in West Des Moines. On April 21, 2022, the State of Iowa passed a law allowing the sale of consumer fireworks in cities. For information on the sale of consumer fireworks, click here.
Help reduce fires and injuries and leave the fireworks to trained professionals. Watch the fireworks display held at the City Campus on July 4 at dusk.
