January 7th through May 23rd
**REGISTRATION OPENS DECEMBER 1**
Registration for the Winter/Spring 2025 session will open on December 1st.
English Language Learner (ELL) classes for adults at West Des Moines Human Services are free and in-person (classes are not offered online). These classes are designed to teach adults of limited English proficiency how to read, write, and speak the English language. The classes focus on the fundamental elements of the English language (e.g., spelling, vocabulary, verb tense, grammar). Students are divided into beginning, intermediate and advanced levels. The level of instruction is determined by a placement test taken prior to the first class.
The classes take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 am to 12 pm at West Des Moines Human Services (139 6th Street, West Des Moines). On-site childcare is available for kids ages 2 to pre-kindergarten; note, our childcare program can accept a limited number of children and we currently have a wait list - please contact us to inquire about availability. We no longer offer transportation, however you may qualify for a bus pass - please contact us to learn more. For more information, please email HumanServices@wdm.iowa.gov or call 515-222-3660.
