Visitor Information

Weather

Cancellations or postponements due to weather will be posted on WDM Parks and Recreation's Facebook Page and this page if the event is non-emergent. Events will be cancelled, postponed, or stopped in the event of severe thunderstorm or tornado warnings, or if lighting can be spotted or thunder heard from the Jamie Hurd Amphitheater grounds. Due to the inflatable screen used for Moonlit Movies, movies will be cancelled or postponed if winds exceed 15mph.

Parking

The best place to park for the Jamie Hurd Amphitheater is West Des Moines City Hall.  You may also park at the West Des Moines Public Library or WDMCS Learning Resource Center. There is handicap accessible parking located on the east side of the City Hall parking lot, closest to the Jamie Hurd Amphitheater.

No parking is permitted on S 35th St.

Seating

There is no built-in seating at the Jamie Hurd Amphitheater. Visitors are encouraged to bring folding chairs or blankets to sit on while enjoying the show.

Food and Beverage

Outside food and beverages are permitted. See beverage policy for more information.

There is no drinking fountain at the Jamie Hurd Amphitheater. 

Restrooms

Portable restroom facilities are available.

Pets

Pets are permitted provided they remain leashed and are not causing a disturbance to other guests. Off-leash pets or those causing disturbances will be asked to leave.

Tobacco

Use of tobacco products, including but not limited to smoking, vaping, and chewing, is prohibited on the Jamie Hurd Amphitheater grounds at all times.
