Parking enforcement is a task we do to make sure that roads remain accessible for the motoring public and emergency vehicles as well as ensuring that parking spaces intended for people with disabilities are used as intended. In most residential neighborhoods, there are parking regulations that may prohibit on-street parking in different circumstances. This can create difficulties for residents who may be holding an event in a neighborhood that increases the need for parking capacity beyond what is allowed. To assist with this, variances in parking enforcement may be requested for special events as approved by the police department.

To request a variance of parking enforcement for an event, you can use this form to request consideration. If the request is approved, you will receive a reply from police department staff via email or telephone letting you know of the approval. Requests should be submitted at least one week prior to the start of the event to allow time for approval.

Before making the request, you should know that this will only apply to parking in neighborhoods and that some parking regulations, such as parking too close to fire hydrants or driveways, parking for the disabled, and fire lanes cannot be waived.
